Book Review: Savage Messiah; How Dr. Jordan Peterson is Saving Western Civilization By Jim Proser
First things first…
Jim Proser’s SAVAGE MESSIAH, the story of internet guru Dr Jordan Peterson, is a biography that reads with the page-turning intensity of a well-plotted suspense novel.
This observation holds even more true if, like your reviewer, you are unfamiliar with Doctor Peterson and his life and accomplishments before opening the book. In that case, you will be introduced to a man who sits and contemplates sticking long sharp objects into the necks of his college classmates, fights a lifelong conservative political crusade against left-wing academia and government bureaucrats, and battles lifelong depression on the way to becoming a gifted educator.
The above paragraph contained no spoilers. A bare bones description of the career of Jordan Peterson is about as revealing as the x-ray of a human skull is to the inner workings of the human mind. What is the good doctor really obsessed with?
As Proser leads us toward what he believes is the answer to that question, we meet the
fanatical supporters of the good doctor, willing to provide financial support to help him
mythologize his life and achievements. We also meet the doctor’s dedicated opponents,
determined to go to Orwellian lengths to silence his arguments.
Read this book for both the sheer enjoyment of a well-told story, and also for a window into western society’s decline, which both sides of the social war Proser describes claim we are experiencing.
Does Western Civilization need saving?
Dr. Peterson’s friends and enemies are both sure of the answer. For the rest of us, Jim Proser’s book provides a stepping-off point for honest debate.
