Brooklyn based two-piece band The Upstart Crows have released their first single, Bad Medicine, off their new self-titled album. The album will be released on Aug. 24 and will be found on all streaming major services.
The alternative rock two-piece band met in 2015 while attending college in New Hampshire and have been working on the album for the past two years. After college, the two moved independently to New York and began playing shows in the Brooklyn and Manhattan area. Jonathan Adams, the lead singer, and guitarist writes the lyrics and Forest DeCoste is on the drums for live shows. He also writes the bass lines and assists in vocal harmonies.
While not a concept album, the songs are all linked through a common thread of loneliness and regret. In an interview, Jon explained the ideas behind it. “The album is a collection of independent stories connected by lyrical themes of isolation and abandonment presented in a very upbeat and energetic musical package,” he said. “Kind of like how people are in real life.”
The Upstart Crows will be playing shows all through the summer
